The Delfin LNG terminal is the nation's first offshore floating liquefied natural gas export terminal, planned to be located about 40 miles off the coast of Cameron Parish, Louisiana. The project involves building an anchorage and floating LNG processing vessel to receive natural gas through pipelines, liquefy it, and transfer it to docking ships for export to Asia and Europe. The first phase aims to produce 4.4 million metric tons of LNG annually, with full buildout targeting 13.2 million metric tons per year. The project survived a legal challenge regarding environmental and public review and is proceeding with an initial $5 billion investment, with plans to begin export by 2030.
