Description | In July 2007, the Public Works Department (PWD), Rajasthan signed an 11 year concession contract (including construction period) to India’s M/s Vishesh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. to strengthen and widen the 35 km section between Delhi – Ramgarh - Alwar in the state of Rajasthan. Under the contract, Vishesh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. was responsible for the design, construction, finance, operation and maintenance and widening of the existing two-lane road to a four-lane highway with paved shoulders. The expansion project was expected to ease traffic congestion and give significant stimulus to trade and commerce in the entire region. Vihesh Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd. (VIPL) won the competitive tender, conducted by Rajasthan PWD. While the bidding details couldnot be ascertained at the time of collection of this information, it is known that VIPL was to recover the capital costs and operating costs including returns through tolling during the concession period (excluding construction period). The project reached financial closure in July 2007. The total capital cost of the project was estimated at US$ 6.32 million.
