Delhi-Dehradun National Highway Six-Lane Expansion

The project involves expanding the Delhi-Dehradun National Highway (old NH 58) from four lanes to six lanes, specifically from Meerut to Roorkee in the first phase. The expansion includes constructing approximately 20 new underpasses at intersections to eliminate traffic bottlenecks, building service roads alongside the highway, and a 1.5 km elevated road in Mansoorpur to ease congestion caused by marketplaces, a sugar mill, and a medical college. Existing flyovers will be widened, and some land acquisition is anticipated. The project aims to alleviate heavy traffic congestion, especially on weekends, and is estimated to cost around Rs 3,000 crore. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) is expected to be submitted by March 2026, with construction to commence post-approval and complete within 1.5 years.
