Description | The Delhi government allocated Rs 9,000 crore in the 2026-27 budget to strengthen water supply and sanitation facilities through the Delhi Jal Board. The project includes reducing non-revenue water from 45% to 15%, expanding 12.7 km of transmission lines and 172 km of distribution pipelines, increasing water supply by 10 MGD with an additional 36 MGD planned, expanding Chandrawal Water Treatment Plant and pipeline, and improving water distribution at Wazirabad Water Treatment Plant funded by ADB. Sewage treatment plant capacity will be increased from 707 MGD to 814 MGD with a target of 1500 MGD. Construction of drains on MB Road at Rs 387 crore and redevelopment of drains in several areas with Rs 610 crore allocated for irrigation and flood control are also part of the project. |
