Delivering the region renaissance doing regeneration

The cities located in the periphery of their countries each face a problem of centralization and slow development. Thus the idea is to use the new regeneration approach for revitalization of border cities of Daugavpils, Kraslava (LV), Zarasai, Utena, Visaginas (LT) and Braslav, Novopolotsk, Verkhnedvinsk (BY) by involving them into the cross-border network where the character and function of each city is defined and realized. The project strengthens the cooperation among Latvian, Lithuanian and Belarusian cities, improves the image of the crossborder region and supports its economic development by implementing an innovative approach to sustainable regeneration of cities and their surrounding areas. The project creates a competence network of specialists on regeneration issues, enhances public-private cooperation, favorable conditions for investment related decision-making and urban development by preparing regeneration strategy, area regeneration plans and implementation frameworks, technical and tendering documentations for pilot investment projects as well as carrying out the trainings for municipal specialists.
