Democratic Republic of Congo - Support Project for Consolidation of the Economic Fabric (PACTE)

The proposed intervention relates to the award of a grant of UA 1,766 million and a loan of UA 2,424 million on ADF-13 resources to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to finance the Support Project for Consolidation of the Economic Fabric (PACTE). This is institutional support that will be implemented during the 2017-2020 period, aimed at accelerating the industrialization process and, consequently, the economic development of the country by consolidating the standardization system and supporting women's entrepreneurship, particularly in product processing for sustained growth. PACTE has adopted a transformative approach, and combined with Support Project for Private Sector Development and Job Creation (PADSP-CE) and other Government actions, is likely to strengthen the virtuous dynamics of wealth creation and consolidation of the economic fabric. Indeed, the project will help to improve the quality of local products and strengthen the value chain. It comprises three complementary components. The first component will strengthen standardization system capacity, which is crucial to industrial development and the structuring of supply to the economy. The second component will support women's entrepreneurship mainly in product processing. Lastly, the third component will guarantee efficient project implementation.
