Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) - Nsele - Lufi and Kwango - Kenge roads rehabilitation project

The Nsele - Lufi and Kwango - Kenge roads rehabilitation project is designed to contribute to the internal and external opening up of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). This opening up was to be achieved by restoring access to major urban centers, densely populated areas, major centers of economic activity and countries in the subregion. The project includes an important sensitization campaign in its area of influence, targeting local authorities, farmers, pastoralists, members of farmers' organizations, women's and youth associations, students, opinion leaders, and teachers, pastors and the population as a whole. The project comprises: (i) road works on two sections of the N1 (RN1), Nsele-Lufimi (93 + 900 km) and Kwango-Kenge (72 + 800 km) sections and the 140 km of related agricultural feeder roads, as well as other work; (ii) institutional support through the provision of technical assistance for the project; (iii) a detailed technical study on the Tshikapa-Mbuji Mayi axis of RN1; and (iv) an audit of the project.
