The building, constructed in 1885, was structurally unsafe and contained asbestos materials. The demolition was conducted under a specialized permit using controlled wet demolition methods to safely manage hazardous asbestos-containing materials. Approximately 2,000 tons of friable asbestos-containing debris were safely removed and disposed of. The project concluded with grading, topsoil installation, and seeding to stabilize the site. |
