Description	The Demonstration of Alternatives to Chlordane and Mirex in Termite Control GEF Project aims to mitigate environmental and health risks in China associated with chlordane and mirex in termite control by (1) demonstrating the elimination of their use through the introduction of integrated pest management in selected areas, and (2) preparing a national replication program for complete phase-out of chlordane and mirex. The project has six components: (1) institutional capacity strengthening (for project management); (2) policy framework for elimination of chlordane and mirex (at national and provincial level); (3) implementation of integrated pest management (through introduction of bait systems); (4) closure of chlordane and mirex manufacturing at the Liyang Guanghua chemical company; (5) monitoring and evaluation (of project performance); and (6) national replication program for elimination of chlordane and mirex in China.
