Description
Description | Deployment of ETCS level 2 baseline 3 along roughly 15% of the state-owned railway network in Denmark, specifically 241,25 km of double track equivalent railway. The project is part of the Danish Signalling Programme, which is carrying out a replacement of the entire signalling system on the state-owned railway network in Denmark before 2030. The railway line in question is a double track TEN-T Core Network Corridor line situated in the most populated part of western Denmark. The line runs from Aalborg Airport in Northern Jutland through Denmark’s second largest city Aarhus, until it reaches Fredericia in Southern Jutland. In this project, the line is split into two parts (Work Packages): North: Aalborg Airport - Aarhus (excluding urban node) (WP1), and South: Aarhus (excluding urban node) - Fredericia (WP2). From the results of the project, Banedanmark expects a decline in signal-related delays, increased capacity, higher levels of safety, cheaper maintenance, centralized traffic control, energy optimization, and on-time passenger information. The project was initiated in January 2021, meaning that the project is mature with no pending approvals or contracts. Commissioning is planned for the fourth quarter of 2024 and 2025, respectively. |
