Deployment of the ERTMS – track side equipment on the second track Divača-Koper

The Project “2TDK – ERTMS” is the part of the global project “Second track Divača-Koper” which comprises the construction of a new single-track railway link between the freight railway station Koper Tovorna, adjacent to the Port of Koper, and the station in Divača towards the city of Ljubljana. The new link will be 27,1 km long, with a 38 km in tunnels, including parallel service tunnels for the main part of the long tunnel sections. The global project scope aims at enhancing the capacity of the existing infrastructure to accommodate future growing demand for rail freight transport to/from the Port of Koper. The works covered by this application are related to the deployment of European Rail Traffic Management System – ERTMS (track side deployment). The goal of a Project “2TDK – ERTMS” is to ensure safe and reliable railway transport (provided safety, security, control, and traffic management). The Project “2TDK – ERTMS” consists of 3 (three) WP`s: - WP1: Project management, - WP2: ETCS and - WP3: Interlocking The components of the Project submitted to a CEF call 2024 “2TDK – ERMTS” are not self-sufficient. “2TDK – ERTMS” cannot function without other components (without global project). Also, global project cannot be completed if 2TDK – ERTMS” is not implemented. The technical parameters of the new railway track will be in compliance with the relevant standards for the rail Core Network. These include in particular: • Maximum speed up to 160 km/h (reduced to 80-100 km/h in some parts due to the topography); • GC clearance gauge; • Axle load of 22.5 t/axle (cat. D4); • Full electrification (3 kV DC system, with the possibility of later rearrangement to the 25 kV AC system); • ERTMS/ETCS Level 1.
