Headquartered in Shanghai, China, Shanghai Desano Bio-Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (“Desano” or the “Company”) is a leading manufacturer of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (“API”) and finished dosage forms (“FDF”) for the treatment of HIV-AIDS. The company sells its API products utilized by its domestic and overseas corporate drug manufacturing clients to produce generic antiretroviral (ARV) drugs.  Also the company sells FDF products in China and exports them globally.IFC is considering a Loan of US$100 million to support the Company’s expansion program in China and India. The Company’s expansion program includes: (1) construction and operation of Phase 2 of ARV API production facility in Zhangshu City, Jiangxi province, China (location coordinates: 28.022611, 115.624583), where production of the Phase 1 started in mid-2023 (Phase 2 is currently at the planning stage, with construction expected to commence in the first quarter of 2025); and (2) expansion of its ARV API and FDF manufacturing facility in Harohalli, KIADB Industrial Area, Phase III, Ramanagar District, Karnataka, India (location coordinates: 12.774250815282588, 77.63640036591903) (“Desano Harohalli”). In India the greenfield Project facility is currently undergoing construction with 80% of civil works completed.
