Description

The Brazilian company Desenvix, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jackson Empreendimentos, was granted authorizations to build three wind parks located in the state of Bahia (95.2 MW in total capacity). The 35-year contracts were signed with the regulatory agency ANEEL starting in July 2010. The following special purpose companies were creates to handle the parks: Macaubas Energetica, Novo Horizonte Energetica and Seabra Energetica. The power plants were named EOL Macaubas (35.1 MW), EOL Novo Horizonte (30.1 MW) and EOL Seabra (30.1 MW). The total investment in the power plants was estimated at US$ 246.7 million (BRL 415 million) and was financed with a loan granted by the state-owned development bank BNB approved in August 2011 (US$ 159.83 million or BRL 268 million). All special purpose companies signed power purchase agreements arranged with the state-owned company Eletrobras for 20 years through the Brazilian Federal program PROINFA (incentive program for alternative power generating companies) in 2009. Commercial operations were set to begin in December 2011. As of June 2011, construction works were almost concluded. Operations commenced in July 2012.
