Description | Arizona Public Service (APS) plans to build a 2,000 megawatt natural gas power plant called the Desert Sun Power Plant near Phoenix. The project aims to meet surging energy demand from extra-large users such as data centers, using a "growth pays for growth" subscription model where these users cover capital costs. The first phase is expected to serve customers by 2030, creating hundreds of construction jobs and about 100 permanent jobs at the facility. The plant will use natural gas from a new pipeline being built between Texas and Arizona, expected to be completed by 2029. |
