Design of flood protection reservoirs in the River Bódva valley

The design of three flood protection reservoirs was required in the borderline areas of Hungary. The municipalities concerned received plans suitable for water management licensing and for individually performed construction works, which are suitable even for individual construction upon the settlement of ownership issues and/or upon obtaining funding. In case of even the individual realization of the reservoirs, the flood protection safety of the River Bódva valley will considerably improve. The implementation of the complete program is to increase flood protection safety to a degree varying by settlement, from the current 50-60 % to 80-90%. Coordination works forming a basis for the licensing plan of the flood protection reservoirs as well as data collection works were performed by the staff of the North Hungarian Environment and Water Directorate in cooperation with project partners.
