Developing and furnishing the Zipringa Wilderness Center

The project consisted of two simultaneous projects, of which one included investments and the other development. The Zipringa Wilderness Center, located on the Russian side of the border, was constructed on the isthmus between Lake Paanajärvi and Lake Zipringa, near the village of Niska. Idän Revontulet Oy planned to implement investments in both Finland and Russia through a joint-venture company it owned. The use of investments and development activity was intended to bring the company’s travel services up to a level that would meet the needs of international business travellers; to promote Idän Revontulet Oy’s business activities in Finland; to improve efficiency in the Russian side of the joint venture with travel services; and to improve availability for international business traveller groups. Idän Revontulet Oy’s operations in Finland were to be promoted, and the joint-venture activities relating to travel services in Russia to be improved by employing a key member of staff who was a Russian speaker and through personnel training. The development project was intended to improve the standard of travel services as well as their marketing, particularly to international business traveller groups. In addition to Russia, the marketing was to be directed at Central Europe.
