Description
Description | The objective of the call is to support the development of more and better data and statistics needed to underpin the policies under the European Green Deal (EGD). It seeks to pilot and produce new information and methodologies, in particular for the following areas: climate change and other environmental statistics and accounts. This grant project application contains four work packages in different areas that all serve the need of better data and statistics under the EGD: development and implementation of forest accounts, advanced data and modelling for ecosystem accounts, development of environmental subsidies and similar transfers accounts and material footprints. The goals of the proposed work packages are in line with the current EU strategy for the environmental accounts, which puts focus on the further development and promotion of the use of the environmental data and statistics. Another main priority which is supported by the proposed project is to continue to improve the quality of the European environmental accounts. The proposed project also supports the development of more and better information, measures and monitoring required according to the EGD. In summary, the four work packages are mostly based on identified priorities and obstacles that must be resolved in order to fulfil the requirements for the revised Regulation (EU) 691/2011. The project will focus on the Swedish context but will also consider, where relevant, work done at the European level or in other countries. Statistics Sweden is the beneficiary of this project and will coordinate the work. However, two of the work packages require expertise and data access not available in-house and will be a joint effort together with subcontractors SMHI, the Forest Agency and SLU. The project will be coordinated and led by Statistics Sweden with a designated project manager responsible for project structure, task delegation and other administration. |
