Nefertiti Film is presenting four feature-length film projects for the 2023 European Slate Development call. These represent a well balanced list of new and well-known talent, and each work falls into a different genre. The Rope is a philosophical, low sci-fi directed by Alberto Fasulo. This is his last film of the Trilogy of Man, following TIR (Marc’Aurelio d’Oro at the Rome Film Festival) and Menocchio (official competition at the Locarno Film Festival). A Year of School is a coming-of-age story based on the book Un anno di scuola (A year of school) by Giani Stuparich, directed by Laura Samani. Samani participated in the Semaine della Critique with her first work, Small Body, and won the EFA European Discovery FIPRESCI 2022 as well as a David di Donatello for Best New Director. The Two of Us is a feature film in the category of adulthood. Like The Rope, this film was written by Milo Tissone, and written and directed by Alberto Fasulo. It’s the story of a couple and how it evolves over the years by answering this question: if in a couple the sickness of one is medicine for the other, can they heal each other? The Last Queen is a debut film by Stefano La Rosa and Luca Renucci. Along the lines of Italian comedy, amusing aspects are characterized by an underlying bitterness and leave a profound message. All four films have been conceived with international co-production in mind. Currently, they are at different stages of development but the objective for all the projects is to be ready for production at the end of Creative Europe activities. In the last several years, Nefertiti Film has made great headway in the European panorama with the production of high-quality, art house films that participate in the main film festivals. The aim of the company is to increase the number of films produced yearly and expand its size in terms of personnel and yearly revenue.
