The project „Development of the Estonian Flag and Community Centre“ is submitted under the programme thematic objective TO5 Support to local and regional good governance and it is aimed at preserving and promoting Estonian cultural and historical heritage on the municipal as well on the national level.  The Estonian Flag and Community Center will celebrate and preserve the story of the Estonian Flag and the birthplace of the Flag. It will preserve the memory of Jakob Hurt as well as the national awakening and patriotic movement that emerged in Otepää. The Estonian Flag and Community Center has an important role in the national defence-related and patriotic upbringing of students. The Estonian Flag and Community Center is the place in Otepää where significant celebratory events take place, which is a tourist attraction and which thereby helps to increase the competitiveness of the region.   The Project takes the responsibility to implement the following main objectives:   -    to prioritise the story and the birth place of the Estonian flag. -    to introduce Estonian cultural and community history. -    to develop tourism (domestic and cross-border visitors), increase the attractiveness of the area so that the visitors will come to Otepää not only in high seasons. -    to enhance the appeal and competitiveness of the region and promote entrepreneurship – by presenting the historical heritage and making it accessible for public, project activities will result in more favourable conditions for local and regional SMEs, who will benefit from the increased flow of tourists to the region . -    to offer good-quality and non-formal possibilities of learning the history of Estonia (learning with the family, extracurricular learning) . The location of the implementation of the activities is Otepää, Estonia. The Estonian Flag and Community Center will be established in the premises of the  Otepää parsonage.  Activities aimed at achieving the objective of the project are: - design of the  basement floor and 1st floor exposition of the Estonian Flag and Community Centre (model of the form and graphical part). - interior design of the basement floor and 1st floor. - design of landscape architecture, i.e. exterior design of the area in front and around the parsonage building (existing spatila situation, existing and new landscaping, dendrology, outdoor lighting, small forms and outdoor furniture, footprints and logical mobility, stormwater management). The result of the project is well-prepared and developed interior design project documentation describing the vision and main idea of the exposition and exterior design of the area in front of the parsonage where most of the festive community activities, also those dedicated to the Estonian flag, take place.
