Description
Description | The Republic of Indonesia, represented by the Ministry of Finance, is to be provided with an FC loan of up to EUR 90 million (or equivalent in USD) to finance the Wosusokas Regional Water Supply System project. The aim of the project is to expand access to centralized drinking water supplies in the participating communities in three regions of Central Java and thus improve urban living conditions. The funds from the loan are to finance the construction of a new water treatment plant, long-distance water pipes and the construction of eight new drinking water reservoirs including pumping stations. The project sponsor is the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (MoPWH), which is responsible for the construction work on the project. MoPWH has many years of experience with similar water supply projects. Operation and maintenance are to be taken over by the provincial water supply company PDAB Tirta Utam. The total cost of all project measures is around EUR 115 million. In addition to the financing through the FC development loan, both the province of Central Java and the municipal water suppliers are participating in the project. While the province of Central Java will provide around EUR 5 million for the acquisition of the required land, the municipal water suppliers will expand their pipeline networks and house connections for around EUR 10 million. At the same time, the MoPWH is financing the water intake point for the project with the corresponding pumps and pipes with a total value of around EUR 10 million. The water intake point is already being built and highlights the relevance of the project for the Indonesian side, especially since the water intake point would be irrelevant without the project. |
