"KFS production is submitting two projects – a debut genre feature film and TV miniseries: 1. MOTHER OF THE NIGHT /orig. MATKA NOCI Feature debut, horror/spiritual thriller, written by Peter Balko, directed by Peter Czikrai In the past, several important author-director debuts have come out of our production workshop. Zuzana Liová's HOUSE, Slávek Horák's HOME CARE or Beata Parkanová's MOMENTS (each of them have gained attention for Czech and Slovak cinema all over the world - from the screening at the much-watched Karlovy Vary and Berlinale festivals to a national Oscar nomination and a rare placement in the TOP TEN of the VARIETY magazine. MOTHER OF THE NIGHT echoes each of these films. Be it the rural setting, the intimate view of the female protagonist, or the strongly realistic social dimension and existential setting of the story. In this particular case the director and screenwriter use this familiar setting to reinforce the counterpoint in the encounter with the genre element of horror, or a ""spiritual"" thriller. 2. FRONTWARDS/orig. POSTUP TV miniseries, crime/family drama, written by Lukáš Sigmund, directed by Michal Kollár Recently, writer Lukas Sigmund attended Serial Eye - school for writers, a European platform supported by Creative Desk and based in Berlin. His mentors included Frank Spotniz (X FILES, MEDICI), Peter Morgan (THE CROWN) or Sarah Linton (KILLING EVE a DOWNTON ABBEY). FRONTWARDS is his graduation work which, during the final pitch, caught immediate attention of several production companies and sales, among them BETA FILM. The LOI is attached. Coming from an uxpected background, Frontwards is a new take on the genre of investigation, where procedural and serial elements blend together with a twist."
