Development phase for project 1.7.1 Interconnection between Navarra (ES) and Landes (FR)

The Project contributes to the implementation of PCI 1.7.1. Interconnection between Navarra (ES) and Landes (FR), also known as “Pyrenean crossing 1”, which is a new interconnection of 225 km HDVC line of 2 GW transfer capacity between France and Spain. The Project aims to prepare technical and financial studies for the new HDVC cable between Spain and France and two new converter stations, one in Spain and another in France. The Project includes carrying out the feasibility and design studies, the assessment of the best possible routes and locations, economic analysis, preparing and submitting the documentation for permitting and preparing the EPC procurement processes. The Project will be carried out by internal and external resources. The main deliverables are: - Cable feasibility report among the routing in Spain and France completed; - Selection of the cable EPC contractor prepared; - Converter station feasibility report for Spain and France completed; - Selection of the converter station EPC contractor prepared; - Permitting application submitted to the competent Spanish and French authorities; - Report on the status of permitting completed; - Economic analysis report completed. Once the Project is completed, the PCI will be ready to enter the construction phase.
