Dewey-Burdock Uranium In-Situ Recovery Project

planned

The Dewey-Burdock project is a proposed uranium in-situ recovery project near Dewey in Fall River County, South Dakota. It would impact about 240 acres of public land within a larger 10,580-acre area. The project includes building access roads, four groundwater monitoring wells, and an overhead power line, with an initial phase disturbing about four acres. The project has received a supplemental environmental impact statement and a license from the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission in 2014. The Bureau of Land Management is currently completing an environmental assessment and seeking public comments on the project.
