Description | TATA Power, from India, was planning the development of the 114MW Dagacchu run-of-river hydropower project, in joint venture with Druk Green Power Corporation, owned by the Bhutanese government. Tata held 26% of the equity, DGPC held 59%. The remaining 15% was held by the NPPF (National Pension & Provision Fund) of Nepal. Output was expected to be 260-500 GWh. Commissioning was expected for 2013. The project held a PPA with TATA Power, and the Bhutan. The project required a 19km transmission line (220kV), connecting the project to Tsirang power house. The civil works were done by HCC, form India, awarded in July 9, 2009 (for Nu 3,875.00 million, US$45 million). The electric equipment was to be supplied by Alstom Hydro, from Hydro and VA Tech Hydro, from Austria (for EUR54.99 million, US$71.3 million). Consulting was provided by PriceWaterhouseCoopers Pvt. Ltd. (India), in association with Nippon Koei Co. Ltd. (Japan). The evacuation was to be done via a 1,200 kilometer built for the 1,020 Tala project brought online in 2006. HCC was also responsible for constructing Tala, and 1,200MW Punatsangchhu 1 HPP. The debt/equity ratio of the project was 60/40. Part of the debt was provided by the Asian Development Bank (US$51 million debt, 30 year tenor + US$29 million financing towards the DGPC equity, 32 year) and the Austrian export credit agency (OeKB). Total cost was US$201.5 million. The project also applied for UNFCCC CDM financing.
