Dharavi Redevelopment Project - Kurla Mother Dairy Land Allotment

Planned

The Maharashtra government has allotted an 8.5-hectare plot of Mother Dairy land in Kurla to be used for rehabilitating ineligible slum-dwellers displaced by the Dharavi redevelopment project. The project involves rehabilitating 8.5 lakh families, with 5 lakh eligible to be rehabilitated in Dharavi itself and the remaining 3.5 lakh families to be rehabilitated in other spaces including the Kurla plot. The land allotment has faced opposition and protests from local residents and political parties.
