Description | Nineteen workers and officials of the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) were trapped inside the tunnel of the 280MW Dhauliganga hydroelectric project in Pithoragarh's Dharchula area due to a landslide blocking the main head race tunnel and emergency shaft. Rescue operations were conducted by the Border Roads Organisation, National Disaster Response Force, and Central Industrial Security Force, successfully evacuating all personnel after almost 22 hours. Power generation continued uninterrupted during the rescue. |
