Digital Euro Infrastructure

The European Central Bank has agreed with European standard setting bodies to build the digital euro on open, non proprietary infrastructure. This shared platform is designed to let European payment providers access and build services without paying fees to global card schemes such as Visa. The project aims to create a common, free infrastructure for eurozone payments, providing an alternative to global card networks.
