Digital Euro Payment Standards Implementation

The European Central Bank (ECB) has signed agreements with three European standard-setting organisations - ECPC, nexo standards, and the Berlin Group - to implement open technical standards for processing digital euro online payments. These standards aim to support contactless payments, connect merchants' systems with payment service providers, and enable payments using aliases such as mobile phone numbers. The initiative seeks to minimize adoption costs, encourage coordination among stakeholders, and provide a uniform user experience across the euro area.
