EADTU is the leading institutional network for both open distance universities and traditional universities, providing flexible degree and continuing education, delivered through various forms of digital teaching and learning. It is in line with the EU's digitization, re-skilling and up-skilling priorities. EADTU is at the heart of the development of the European Education Area, the Digital Education Action Plan and the Bologna Process. In 2022, EADTU has 28 members (12 open, online and distance teaching universities, 13 national associations of universities, 2 single universities, 3 associated members). In total EADTU is representing over 200 European universities and 3 million students. EADTU is organizing services to university staff and leaders and policy makers. EMPOWER brings together teaching staff and researchers in 11 expert groups on topics of digital education. E-xcellence is offering quality assurance for digital education. OpenupEd delivers services and a portal for MOOCs in the partnership. Through the European MOOC Consortium, it is supporting the main European MOOC platforms: FutureLearn, France Université Numérique, Miriadax, EduOpen, iMooX, NAU, and OpenupEd. EADTU is promoting digital, open and flexible higher education and lifelong learning; empowering European higher education in digital, open and flexible education open; supporting policy development at institutional, national and EU level, and strengthening the collaboration between members. These ongoing objectives of the EADTU will for 2022 be extended with specific priorities and objectives concerning diversity and inclusion, e-assessment, the acquisition of competences for all by MOOCs and microcredentials, empowering staff and leadership of universities for the transformation of digital education and excellence and innovation in educational research and innovation. These objectives are fully in line with the EU priority themes.
