Digital learning paths – EU criminal law

The Digital learning path in EU criminal law will tackle the needs of legal professionals who wish to receive a comprehensive learning in relation to EU criminal law. The learning path will provide a series of asynchronous training for those who a) wish to benefit from a structured guided learning, with self-assessment and coaching to become acquainted with the EU criminal law, and/or b) who don’t have the time and capacity to attend real time/synchronous training. The learning path is gradually built up, level by level from introductory to advanced and to expert level.. Activities: • 3 Steering Committee Meetings • 6 Introductory e-learning modules tackling the basic concepts and notions of EU criminal law; the flagship EU mutual recognition based criminal law instruments and EU procedural guarantees legislation • 3 Advanced e-learning modules presenting horizontal issues currently topical in EU criminal law evolving mostly around the European Arrest Warrant discussing fundamental rights, detention and pre-trial detention, rule of law, judicial independence, cooperation with third countries, ne bis in idem. • 4 synchronous bi-monthly Group discussion events and views on various EU criminal law topics in facilitated fashion: Case studies regarding the EAW, EIO, presumption of innocence, PIF crimes, with simultaneous interpretation into French and Polish to be provided • Project evaluation incl. quality and impact evaluation per training • Learning Management System hosting all the training materials and the Discussion forum to facilitate professional exchange among project participants • All training materials made available in English, French and Polish. Expected results: Strengthening of the principles of mutual trust and mutual recognition and contribution to the increased understanding of the EU criminal law particularly with a view to judicial cooperation instruments and fundamental rights/rule of law context in which EU judicial cooperation operates.
