Digital transformation is a key priority for the European Union and should be shaped according to our European values and laws, as widely proposed in the context of the recently-issued European Declaration on Digital Rights and Principles. The Project proposes the creation of a three-year teaching course on a currently hot topic for European integration studies (Digital Transformation Strategy and AI Policy), aims at fostering a multidisciplinary and multi-stakeholder approach. The three-year course, in fact, has a specific focus per year (first year: “Digital Economy and Data Strategy”; second year: “Data Regulations and Fundamental Rights”; third year: “AI and Decentralized Finance”). The Project on digital transformation and AI policy aims at strengthening the European dimension of teaching and researching on these two fundamental pillars of the data strategy, and in turn strengthening the link between education and research on digital transformation in general and AI in particular. The creation of a Chair in “Digital Transformation Strategy and AI Policy” at Università Europea di Roma aims to stimulate teaching, research and debating activities in a key area of European studies. A series of Workshops and a Seminars Program will be delivered, with 12 hours per year dedicated to seminars and special lectures and 8 hours per year dedicated to workshops. An additional activity will be proposed: a book project titled “[-]”, freely available online. The target groups of the teaching compulsory course, resulting from the reformulation of a course already existing and dedicated to Economic Law as a whole, will be the undergraduate Economics and Law students of the Università Europea di Roma. Thanks to the Project, the Università Europea will boost the Smart Specialization Strategy for the 2021-2027 launched by the Lazio region in order to be included in the cluster of the most innovative Italian regions and to fully comply with the role of “Entrepreneurial University”.
