Digital Twin of Ganga River Basin

IIT Delhi has begun work on India's first digital twin of the Ganga river basin, a high-resolution, continuously updating virtual replica of the entire river system. The three-year project aims to provide scientific tools for planning water resources, floods, droughts, groundwater, and long-term ecological management across the basin states. It integrates hydrological models, AI, machine learning, satellite remote sensing, climate datasets, and ground-based sensor observations into a single platform for real-time visualization and scenario-based projections.
