Description
Description | The current analogue structure and organization of Lower Austria's pathology affects all patients or medical personnel who require a quick and precise pathological diagnosis. Having a closer look, various governance levels and actors in Lower Austria need to be involved to change the pathology system in a digital one. For a more efficient patient-centred care, a better vertical and horizontal integration of the system becomes necessary. A joint implementation needs interdisciplinary collaboration between the multi-professional medical teams, working with digital pathology on a daily basis. Thereby, expertise to transform pathology from analogue to digital in Lower Austrian, for structural reforms towards digital cancer treatment, a digital workflow, redesigning processes around the patients, interoperability/interfaces between different levels of health service provision will put the patient at the center of health. This expertise, in turn, can also be easily transferred to other regions and countries in Europe. This expertise is delivered by the pathology department of the MUMC+. Meaning that the MUMC+ will map current processes and service provision, requirements and expectations for pathological, do a gap assessment, draft a digi-pat model and roadmap for Lower Austria and train professionals in Lower Austria. This based on the experience of the MUMC+ having experience with introducing digi-pat in Limburg (NL). An extra added value is the language skills of the MUMC+ department staff which includes German. The department is lead by a German Professor in pathology. |
