The DETAS project, which aims to increase the number of students participating in Erasmus+ mobility placements in a more diverse set of labour conditions and improve their experience on the ground, The European Commission has set a target of 100.000 students to take part in Erasmus+ traineeship placements abroad every year. Currently, this number rests around 75 000, which would mean a one-third increase over the years. The year 2023 is the European Year of Skills, which puts on-the-job placements as a key learning activity for students. The work plan includes: A. Increasing the number of quality internship opportunities available to Erasmus+ students in small and medium enterprises by improving their visibility through targeted outreach and advocacy efforts. B. Contributing to enhance the visibility and accessibility of Erasmus+ internships to a broader audience by creating innovative solutions in the portal to upscale outreach. This will include an significant overhaul of the portal with technically extended solutions and a advocacy strategy and roadmap, campaign visuals and materials for dissemination, and videos on the benefits of hosting an international intern. C. Developing a set of policy recommendations for the quality framework for traineeships that can be potentially integrated into the next Erasmus+ programme. The project includes 4 work packages that will deliver a research report on the current Quality of Erasmus Traineeship placements from the student perspective that will be embedded in a renewed Digital Trainee Journey, embedded in erasmusintern.org. Hosting organisations will be provided with more onboarding tools to improve the learning experience they offer to trainees. At the same time, HEIs will be provided with more tools in order to support student participation. As a final step, the consortium will produce a final report on the quality framework for traineeships and recommendations for adapting the next Erasmus+ programme.
