Dillon Reservoir, Denver Water's largest reservoir in Summit County, has been heavily relied upon during the dry summer of 2025 due to low inflows and high demand. The reservoir provides supplemental water supply to the Front Range when South Platte River supplies are insufficient. Ongoing work on the Gross Reservoir Expansion Project has also constrained water storage on the north side, increasing reliance on Dillon Reservoir. Water levels have fallen below optimal levels for recreation and outflows to the Blue River have decreased significantly. Denver Water aims to maintain reservoir levels and recreational conditions but faces challenges due to dry conditions and high demand.
