Disaster Mitigation - Silverton Road

The project consists of mitigating against the erosion of a town road through the replacement of a deteriorated breakwater that runs parallel to Silverton Road in the Town of Glenburnie-Birchy Head-Shoal Brook. The scope of the project includes the supply and placement of 700 ft (213.36 meters) of armour stone along the shoreline of Bonne Bay at Silverton Road. Excavation will be required to place armour stone 6 ft (1.83 meters) in height along the full length, with 2 ft (0.61m) below ground for stabilization and 4 ft (1.22m) above ground. The project aims to create a long term solution for the protection of the eroding shoreline and thus mitigating against further erosion to Silverton Road and residential properties.
