The purpose of the Bogota Disaster Vulnerability Reduction Project (DVRP) is to reduce the state's fiscal vulnerability to adverse natural events by strengthening national capacity to manage disaster risk. The project also aims to reduce vulnerability in key municipalities that combine high exposure to disaster risk and high contributions to national income and productivity. The project consists of five components. (a) Risk identification - including studies for hazard identification, vulnerability assessments, and risk management; as well as risk monitoring. (b) Risk reduction - seismic mitigation and landslides mitigation. (c) Institutional development - institutional strengthening, project administration, capacity building, and environmental management. (d) Risk prevention and awareness - risk education, information campaign, socio-environmental action for risk reduction, and integrated resettlements. (e) Financial coverage for risk management - develop a risk financing strategy for losses arising from natural disasters.
