Main goal of the project - Improving the quality of life of people with disabilities in order to reduce the social exclusion of the population in Lithuania and Poland, wich are facing similar social problems: an aging population, a relatively shorter life expectancy and a relatively high proportion of the population at risk of poverty or social exclusion compared to western parts of EU. In order to reduce the risk of social exclusion, it is important to provide the necessary social services to the vulnerable groups. The Project „Discover and show yourself“ aims to encourage Jonava (LT) and Suwalki (PL) regional cooperation initiatives with the aim to strengthen the bonds of friendship, mutual respect, trust and eliminate various forms of discrimination in the promotion of various socio-cultural activities for the disabled. These cross-border cooperation activities will be included in Jonava district people with disabilities activity centre (involved in the main beneficiary rights-LB) and Podlaskie Association of Therapists (second beneficiary-B2). During Project it is planned to purchase equipment for the newly created service and to organize various events on both sides. It is expected that after the implementation of the Project both in Lithuania and Poland will reduce the population at risk of poverty or social exclusion, the number of expanded public consciousness will reduce the negatyve attitudes about people with disabilities.
