Description

Description

“Discovering the EU: Our Common Home” is an innovative educational initiative aimed at deepening primary school students’ knowledge about the European Union, its values, institutions, and its impact on everyday life. Through interactive lessons, workshops, meetings with experts, and educational trips, the project combines both theoretical and practical skills related to civic engagement and active participation in the European community. Implemented within subjects such as civics, history, geography, and foreign languages, the project encourages students to explore the history, structure, and key principles of the EU. By participating in debates, simulations, and discussions on political, social, and economic issues, students develop civic and democratic competences while strengthening their understanding of European values such as democracy, human rights, solidarity, and equality. In addition, the project raises students’ awareness of opportunities available to young people, including Erasmus+ programmes and internships in European institutions. Through teamwork and presentations, students develop soft skills such as critical thinking, argumentation, teamwork, and communication. Some activities will be carried out in foreign languages, further enhancing their language competences. In line with the objectives of Jean Monnet, the project promotes educational mobility, cooperation, integration, and innovation in education and youth engagement. By incorporating elements of non-formal and informal education, it supports international understanding and active participation in European affairs. Study visits and meetings with experts will provide students with direct insights into EU institutions and current political challenges, inspiring them to take an interest in European integration and international politics.
