Description | The Discovery Solar PV and Storage Project is a proposed solar energy facility by Terra-Gen Development in southeastern Kern County, California. It aims to generate about 1,400 megawatts of renewable electrical energy and include up to eight gigawatt hours of energy storage. The project site spans approximately 7,700 acres of underutilized land. The solar farm is expected to be operational by mid to late 2029 after about two and a half years of construction, with a lifespan of about 35 years. It will create around 660 temporary construction jobs and six permanent jobs, filled by local union labor. |
