Description | The project involves the replacement of information technology (IT) infrastructure across the transit fleet, central dispatch and fleet storage facilities. The replacement of the current dispatching and Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) hardware and software, mobile data terminals and digital screens for passengers will enable dynamic fleet dispatching capabilities and provide automated real-time detour and service interruption information to transit users. The project outputs include the replacement of the AVL hardware, software, mobile data terminals and video screens on 267 buses, and the replacement of dispatching and AVL software on all dispatch control centre workstations and fleet storage garages. The project will result in improved quality and safety of the public transit system in the City of Hamilton, Ontario. |
