Description
Description | The main objective of the proposed Jean Monnet Module, “Disseminating and Emphasizing the Equality Perspective of the EU” (EU DEEP), is to disseminate the EU's equality perspective to a broad audience, including higher education students studying EU studies and other disciplines, international students from non-EU countries, high school teachers and students, youth trainers and workers, academics, policymakers, experts, professionals, activists from NGOs, local and national governmental bodies, and the general public. It offers a unique and interdisciplinary academic opportunity to its target group, fostering a nuanced understanding of EU equality principles, their implementation in EU Member States, and their relevance to Turkey. The project encompasses seven activities: (1) An elective course on EU equality at IKCU; (2) Training and simulation activities for students in İzmir; (3) Training for youth trainers and teachers; (4) Development of a training and simulation manual; (5) A seminar series and special events on significant dates related to equality; (6) EU project management training; and (7) Research on EU policymaking and equality bodies. Through these activities, the EU DEEP team aims to reach 1,080 beneficiaries, conduct research, produce at least three publications, and create an online training and simulation manual on the EU equality perspective. Recognizing the transformative potential of the EU’s equality principle, this project will explore the EU legislative framework regarding discrimination, inequality, racism, and hate crimes in various contexts and sectors. The interdisciplinary module team seeks to introduce experiential learning to the formal education setting on the EU and its equality perspective to engage non-specialized students and youth while allowing EU studies students to apply their theoretical and conceptual knowledge on EU principles and institutions in practice. |
