Distribution Network Rehabilitation Program

The objectives of the Program are: (i) to rehabilitate the national distribution system (NDS); (ii) to increase the reliability levels of the NDS; and (iii) to contribute to the developing of the strategy to promote the substitution of the use of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for electricity by residential clients. The program includes two components: Component I - Strengthening of the distribution infrastructure (US$162,4 millions). This component includes: (i) the increase of capacity in the distribution network from 110 V to 200 V in the electricity distribution companies of Quito, Centro Sur and Guayaquil; (ii) strengthening of the substations to operate at 220 V; and (iii) enhancement of transmission lines. Component II - Design of the strategy for the migration from LPG to electricity in the residential sector. (US$5,6 millions). Component II includes the analysis of the LPG market.
