Description

Description

Zagreb Film Festival, besides its festival organisation activity, is distributing top-rated independent mainly European films in Croatia and with a catalogue of around 100 films gathered throughout years, searches every day for opportunities to screen and make audience around the country acquainted with European cinema. For almost two decades, by offering a festival and a yearlong film distribution platform, ZFF played an important role in bringing up generations of audiences who enjoy and appreciate film art. Generation stage – We included admissions by 7 eligible non-national European titles released in 2022 all together achieving 14822 admissions. Our line-up of films included five European fiction feature art films and two feature films for families/children (six of them produced in low audio-visual capacity countries). This structure is close to our usual yearly line-up of films. In 2022 we also released two national films (achieving around 45000 admissions). Reinvestment stage – Our plan is to reinvest our fund generated in this proposal for eight to ten new films; combining both Activities 2 (MG), 3 (PA, Promotion) and 4 (PA for online releases). Our aim is to select and acquire films of both new and established directors. After the pandemic period we still find it challenging reaching the audience for European film, but we have managed to return to our usual rhythm of releasing films, and some of the titles have been impressively successful, which gives us encouragement for upcoming releases. We have also strengthened our team by employing a new colleague for all year distribution activities, as well due to diversity of projects that more often collide during the year, we have expanded team of our associates in design, PR and communications. We will continue with all our distribution activities with aim to increase admissions, number of released films, to support synergies between theatrical and virtual distribution and develop audience for European film.
