With our project, we plan to be better positioned to invest in the MGs of European independent films. We’re planning to release a total of 6 films of the most acclaimed and strongly awaited films of each year’s festival circuit. We’re thinking in reaching a wide and diversified audience, including families, young people, adults and elderly. Our main ambition for the titles we acquire is bring them to as many people as possible, meaning make them alive, never forgetting the individuality of each project and specificity of its target. Regarding our investment in advertising and promotion, our budget will be bigger than what we initially expected, as we’ll invest heavily on bringing to Portugal filmmakers, as well as paid advertising on TV and social media. We’ll also work with award winning designers on the Portuguese posters and quality printing for our materials. These releases will be paired with a constant work with the Portuguese press, partnerships with institutions and accompanied by special screenings with some of the biggest experts on the work, booklets and programme notes, round out the distributor’s efforts. This is part of Leopardo Filmes’ mission to contribute to the best possible knowledge and education on cinema in Portugal. We’re absolutely determined in the theatrical release of each picture. This expenditure is a reflection of our mission as independent distributors: to keep venues alive, keeping cinemas as the center of the cinematic experience and bringing people to the cinema. It’s a daily effort which will for sure guarantee the presence of quality independent cinema all around the country, operating in the commercial circuit as well as smaller venues, and across different platforms such as VOD services. In this release period that will still be affected by the pandemic and the war in Europe, our investment has to be even bigger, as to bring audiences to the cinemas is predicted to get more challenging.
