The CREA-MEDIA-2025-FILMDIST call is an exceptional opportunity for Leopardo Filmes to better position itself in the distribution of European independent films, especially those that are directed by unique new voices. We’re planning to reinvest in the release of the most innovative and thematically strong films of this year’s festival circuit. We’re thinking in reaching a wide and diversified audience, including families, young people, adults and elderly. Our main ambition for the titles we acquire is for them to reach as many people as possible, always having into consideration the specificity of each project and corresponding target audience. Regarding our investment in advertising and promotion, our budget will reflect our positions in cinema distribution, the main one being investing heavily on bringing to Portugal international filmmakers. We usually work with award-winning designers for the Portuguese posters. These releases will be paired with a constant work with the Portuguese press, partnerships with institutions, and special screenings featuring experts on the work. Booklets and tote bags round out the distributor’s efforts. This is part of Leopardo Filmes’ mission to contribute to the best possible cinema education in Portugal. We absolutely advocate the theatrical release of each picture. This expenditure is a reflection of our mission as independent distributors, which we’ve been affirming over the years: keep venues alive, keep movie theatres as the heart of the cinematic experience, and create a community of people centred on cinema. It’s a daily effort which will for sure guarantee the presence of quality independent cinema all around the country, operating both in the commercial circuit as well as smaller venues, and across different channels and platforms (such as TV and VOD).
