By using the FZ funding loan of EUR 60 million, the existing district heating network of the city of Bayannaoer is to be modernized and expanded in order to supply a heating area of a total of 13.3 million m² with heating heat in the Linhe district. As part of the project, a total of 156 heat exchangers and around 72 km of primary pipelines are to be newly installed and around 238 km of existing secondary pipelines are to be rehabilitated. The project measures also include the construction of a geothermal heat generation plant, which will be equipped with a 1.5 MW photovoltaic system to cover the company's own electricity needs. A coal-fired thermal power plant (available output 516 MWth) with combined heat and power generation, completed in 2014, will be used to cover the additional heat energy requirements. By using a central heat source and developing renewable energies, a total of 98 coal-fired, inefficient, decentralized boilers will be switched off. Consequently, the objective of the measure is to achieve a more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly district heating supply in Bayannaoer in order to achieve significant savings in greenhouse gas emissions. The target group of the project is the population in Bayannaoer supplied by the district heating system, who will benefit from a more efficient and environmentally friendly heat supply.
