District of North Vancouver - Livable Deep Cove Covid Resilience Project

The project will support pandemic response by redesigning lower Gallant Road in the Deep Cove area of the District of North Vancouver. The improvements will create a shared plaza/street area in order to increase the ability to safely physically distance while utilizing the local amenities such as restaurants and galleries. The project will ensure that there is ample space in the downtown core to physical distance while keeping the local businesses viable. The improvements will be permanent and will be open during the summer months, then reversed during the winter months to return to having traffic and parking utilize the space. The project works include: - reconfiguration of the road right-of-way; - new surface treatment on Gallant road including pavers, sidewalks, and some asphalt; - furnishings and tree planting; - permanent loading zones for commercial vehicles; - installation of stormwater infrastructure; - installation of lighting, bollards; and, - all related works.
