The project will develop methods and tools to create more efficient forestry. Service companies in the sector will get closer to the increasingly diversified clientele of forest owners. In the transition from an oil-based to a bio-based economy, forests and forestry play a prominent role. The transition means not only that the need for wood raw materials will increase, but also that more types of products and services need to be developed along the entire value chain from forest to end customer. However, the fact that forest owners now and in the future can and want to deliver the amount of wood raw material that an expanding forest industry demands cannot be taken for granted. Current research shows that forest owners’ goals, values and forest knowledge have become increasingly diversified and that there is a growing group of remote forest owners. In order to achieve efficient forestry in the programme area, forest service companies need to connect with their increasingly diversified clientele. The project will therefore develop methods and tools for this purpose.
