Diversity Wins will focus on the priority ‘Combating violence and tackling racism, discrimination and intolerance in sport’, while also addressing ‘Inclusion and diversity in all fields of education, training, youth and sport’ as well as ‘Promoting education in and through sport’. Diversity Wins will work to educate, engage, and inspire children and young people children 10 – 16 years of age through an educationalbased programme on racial, LGBTQ+, religious, and gender-based discrimination. The programme will incorporate a mix of workshops, courses, activities, and expert led presentations. Sessions will be delivered both in schools, and to grassroot and academy football clubs. In parallel with the education of children and young people, there will be a focus on educating teachers, sports coaches, and organisational staff to deliver informative and impactful educational sessions to children, as well as learn how to discuss complex topics, use the appropriate language and terminology, reflect on their own behaviours, and what to do if discriminatory abuse is reported. This will be achieved through an Online Training Course that covers key topics and provides information, insight, and advice. European professional football has incomparable power to influence the general public, and therefore a distinct responsibility to help ensure a safe and inclusive society for all. Diversity Wins will utilise the high-profile status of European football and professional football players to promote the project message, and in turn contribute to the establishment of a united European stance against discrimination in both sport and society.
